PUNCTCREME anal care cream is ideal for daily care of the sensitive anal area. It prevents irritation, strengthens the body's natural skin protection, and supports the healthy microbiome of the sensitive anal mucosa.

The skin in the anal region around the anus (rectum) is very sensitive and can quickly become irritated, for example, by diarrhea or constipation. Aggressive soaps or excessive washing, as well as anal douches or insufficient anal care, can also damage the body's natural protective layer of acid and protective bacteria (microbiome). Likewise, physical activity, anal sex, sweating, and strong body hair can lead to irritation and chafing between the buttocks.
Dry mucous membranes, itching, burning, pain, and a feeling of uncleanness are the consequences. Inflammatory skin diseases (anal eczema) or fissures in the anal canal (anal fissures) can also occur. Excessive cleaning often worsens the symptoms. Instead, proper hygiene and anal care are important to restore the natural skin barrier and the physiological anal environment.

It is recommended to apply PUNCTCREME anal care cream to dry skin in the anal area after washing. Depending on your needs, PUNCTCREME anal care cream can also be used several times a day, for example, when the skin in the anal area is stressed or irritated by sports or anal sex.

What is the pH value of PUNCTCREME?
The pH value is 4.5 and is adjusted to the special needs of the anal region to support the bacterial flora.

Is PUNCTCREME a cream or a gel?
PUNCTCREME is an emulsion of oil and water, which means it is easily absorbed into the skin, has a re-fattening effect, and moisturizes. This, in turn, increases the elasticity of the skin in the anal region and the rosette. The composition is optimized so that the cream does not "run", i.e., it is not too liquid, and thus does not leave an unpleasant feeling after application in the anal area.

In which age groups can PUNCTCREME be used?
PUNCTCREME can be used from childhood and for all genders.
There are no study data on use in infants or pregnant women. However, the ingredients exclusively include substances within the Pharmacopeia cosmetica, which are considered harmless.
For infants, however, it is also true that they first have to develop their own microbiome. This process should not be interfered with by care products.

Can PUNCTCREME be used with condoms?
There are no data on whether PUNCTCREME affects the function of condoms.
However, PUNCTCREME is not conceptually intended as a lubricant. For this purpose, we recommend our OptiLube™ medical lubricants. PUNCTCREME is developed for care, e.g., after sexual intercourse or other (also mechanical) irritations of the anal region.

Why does PUNCTCREME have a soothing and smoothing effect?
This effect is based on the precisely coordinated cream formulation (O/W), which enables gentle re-fattening of the anal skin, improves the growth conditions for the natural bacterial flora, and covers fissures and rhagades.
In addition, essential potentially irritating factors such as concentrated fragrances, any synthetic preservatives, etc., were omitted. The ingredient panthenol, incidentally, is attributed an anti-inflammatory effect.

Is PUNCTCREME really vegan? It contains lactic acid and glycogen, doesn't it?
Yes, PUNCTCREME is 100% vegan. Lactic acid and glycogen components are purely synthetic in nature. PUNCTCREME contains no animal ingredients. Furthermore, animal testing was avoided during development and clinical testing.

Why are there 2 pack sizes?
In a survey of the first users during testing, it emerged that in addition to the dispenser for home (30 ml "home edition"), a small dispenser for on-the-go (5 ml "to go edition"), i.e., for acute complaints or spontaneous needs, would also be desirable. We have met this requirement with the different dosage forms. The 30 ml dispenser has a "sealing non-return valve," meaning there are no leftover residues that could dry out or become rancid, as is common with commercially available tube packaging.

PUNCTCREME is attributed an immune-activating effect. Why?
Conceptually, Punktcreme contains ingredients such as vitamin E, which are attributed a gentle activation of the immune system as oxidants, here, for example, a presumed activation of white blood cells (lymphocytes) in the lymph follicles of the intestinal mucosa. There are no specific clinical studies for PUNCTCREME on this, but a positive effect can be presumed based on immunological knowledge about oxidants in conjunction with user feedback.
It can be assumed that the oxidative effect of the PUNCTCREME components also positively influences the local immune defense reduced by perianal dysbiosis (an unfavorable, unphysiological change in the anal region-specific mixture of skin microorganisms) back towards eubiosis or normobiosis.

Can PUNCTCREME relieve pain from anal thrombosis or hemorrhoids?
PUNCTCREME may contribute to relief but is not intended to replace a painkiller like lidocaine or similar. If anal thrombosis or acute symptoms due to hemorrhoids are suspected, a doctor's visit is advisable.

Can PUNCTCREME be used with anal douches?
Excessive cleaning, e.g., with anal douches, also in preparation for anal intercourse, can lead to damage to the superficial anal mucous membranes and perianal skin. PUNCTCREME can then alleviate the discomfort afterward, if anal douches have caused problems, and also prophylactically, but it is not a lubricant. For this, we recommend our medical lubricants OptiLube™.

Is PUNCTCREME also suitable for the care of the vagina, penis, or external genital area?
PUNCTCREME was specially developed by a gastroenterologist for the needs of the anal region. The HERRENCREME and DAMENCREME intimate care creams are also specially tailored for the external genital area, which have a fundamentally different composition, specifically for the external pubic area.

I am a competitive athlete and sweat heavily. I have read that PUNCTCREME helps me balance my intimate health. Why?
Sweat is salty and, depending on the amount on the skin and in skin folds, can lead to a pH shift, which in turn can promote the development of dysbiosis.
Since we all know this and sweat odor is usually perceived as unpleasant, concentrated soap is often applied and rinsed extensively for cleaning, rather than just water with a little soap. This can be irritating to the skin and mucous membranes when sweating combined with mechanical irritation. In the vaginal area, Replens™ or Replens™ pH (formerly RepHresh) help here, and in the anal region and buttock folds, PUNCTCREME is particularly effective. Application before sports/training and after showering is ideally recommended to counteract the (negative) side effects of sweating.

Why is PUNCTCREME called PUNCTCREME and not ANALCREME...?
When looking at the anal rosette, the end of the "colon", it looks like a point. This has been described and used in medical history. Since the old spelling was "Punct" and not "Punkt", we chose this name "PUNCTCREME Anal Care Cream".

Our daughter, 12 months old, suffers from chronic diaper dermatitis, especially around the anus. Can PUNCTCREME help here?
Various causes, such as serious food intolerances, can be behind diaper dermatitis and must be clarified by a doctor. PUNCTCREME is a care product and not suitable for self-treatment of possible illnesses.

How often can PUNCTCREME be used?
PUNCTCREME can be used daily, even several times, as needed. The application involves applying a pea-sized amount of the cream from the dispenser onto the fingertip and gently rubbing it into the irritated area(s).
