EMG

With EMG / electromyography, the electrical activities of muscle tissue are recorded, documented, and made evaluable.
For muscles to contract, the nervous system transmits electrical currents to the muscles. The size of the recorded currents, the so-called potentials, which are measured and displayed by EMG, differ in healthy and diseased muscles. In principle, electromyography can be performed on almost any muscle. The examination is carried out while sitting or lying down.
There are many different electrodes for superficial or punctual recording over a muscle group, or, for example, for recording from the muscle itself with a needle electrode. Electromyography can be used diagnostically for neurological or neuromuscular diseases and as a therapy-accompanying measure, for example, after orthopedic or neurosurgical operations and within the scope of neuromotor rehabilitation.
