The Potassium Iodide Starch Paper Dispenser Roll is ideal for the quick and easy detection of strong oxidising agents such as nitrite and free chlorine. Potassium Iodide Starch Paper is also used to control diazotisation reactions. The paper roll measures 5 m (length) x 6 mm (width) and comes in a refillable plastic dispenser, which ensures the long-term stability of the paper by protecting it from many external contaminants. The paper roll is supplied unperforated, so you simply need to tear off the required length to test your sample. The Potassium Iodide Starch Paper can be dipped into the sample or, alternatively, by applying drops of the sample to the paper. To detect gaseous oxidising agents, the paper should be moistened with distilled water and then exposed to the gas in question. The colour of the paper changes from white to blue-violet when nitrite or free chlorine oxidise potassium iodide to elemental iodine, which reacts with starch to form a blue-violet complex.
