H. influenzae NCTC 8468 KWIK STIK (6)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in a medical laboratory, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option to either (1) re-cultivate the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and re-growth of the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-cultivate the strains yourself but wish to repurchase them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
Application videos on handling reference strains and setting up the cryobank can be found in our " Self-Study " section at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on "Reference strains for internal quality control" for you in our Info Memo.
