Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need help with this, please contact us . We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend that you informally notify the competent supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option to either (1) re-culture the strains yourself using a cryo method (freezing and re-growth of the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., the Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-culture the strains yourself but want to repurchase them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™ .
