Fe-Col Stool Collection Aid with GBA (1000 pcs)
Fe-Col papers offer an easy, user-friendly, efficient, and hygienic method of stool collection. For patients, it provides a quick and simple solution to a frustrating and potentially problematic issue. For laboratory testing of faeces, it removes the risk of sample contamination ensuring fewer testing errors.
Faeces are examined for various reasons, most commonly to determine the presence of bacteria or parasites, for fat content, for occult blood in the stool which may indicate bowel cancer, and for Calprotectin, which can help differentiate between Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
Unlike most other laboratory tests, stool samples are usually collected by the patient at home. However, many people find this collection process difficult, unpleasant, and unhygienic. Cling film, cardboard plates, and large amounts of toilet paper are the most common methods used, yet these are then difficult to dispose of and can cause blockages in pipework.
More than 50% of patients who respond to screening collect a stool sample directly from the toilet bowl. Sampling a stool specimen from the toilet bowl is technically difficult but also introduces potential measurement error due to the loss of stool contents into the surrounding water or contamination from toilet disinfectants and toilet water additives.
To solve these problems, the Fe-Col device was developed: a unique disposable faecal collector that is easily and safely placed on the toilet and can be completely flushed away after use.
