eSwabs (50 flocked swabs, minitip) with UTM

There are numerous sample collection kits, consisting of a swab with a breakpoint, a transport vessel, and a transport medium.

We recommend the flocked swabs from Copan, suitable for almost all types of swabbing and pathogens.

FLOQSwabs™ (with UTM), eSwabs™ (with Amies transport medium)

Area of application: Eyes, nose, nasopharynx, throat, urogenital area, skin, ...

Sample collection from the patient should be carried out with great care, as the success of isolating and identifying pathogens depends on it.
1. Open the swab pouch and remove the sample tube and swab.
2. Perform the swab on the patient.
3. Twist and remove the cap of the sample tube. Be careful not to spill the transport medium.
4. Insert the swab into the tube until the red marked breakpoint is level with the tube opening.
5. Break off the swab in the tube and dispose of the broken part of the swab shaft in an approved medical waste container.
6. Close the sample tube with the cap.
7. Label the sample tube with the patient's data. Send the sample to the analytical laboratory.

As a general rule, the shorter the time between sample collection and processing, the better the processing will be.

Selecting the right transport media:

UTM:
The "Universal Transport Medium" (UTM™) system is used for the collection and transport of clinical samples that may contain viruses, chlamydia, mycoplasma, or ureaplasma. The UTM™ kit can be used for all common procedures such as virus culture, nucleic acid amplification, and antigen detection.
We carry Copan UTM™ products with various flocked swabs (FLOQSwabs™).

Amies:
Universal transport medium for the collection and transport of clinical samples containing aerobes, anaerobes, fastidious bacteria, viruses, and chlamydia. Suitable for all common clinical laboratory procedures such as microbiological culture of aerobes, anaerobes and fastidious organisms, as well as antigen and nucleic acid detection of bacteria, viruses, and chlamydia.
We carry Copan eSwabs™ products with various flocked swabs (FLOQSwabs™).

eSwab™ for aerobic, anaerobic, and fastidious bacteria: 
eSwab™ or Copan Liquid Amies Elution Swab is a universal swab and transport system for aerobic, anaerobic, and fastidious bacteria.
eSwab™ consists of a tube with 1ml of Amies medium and a nylon flocked fiber swab.
Based on eSwab™ samples, bacterial cultures can be created in the laboratory, and antigen detection and PCR procedures can be performed. The liquid transport medium allows for sample division and thus the performance of multiple tests from the same sample.
