Corynebacterium xerosis ATCC 373 KWIK STIK (2)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us. We will be happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is the handling of reference strains subject to approval?
There is no clear regulation regarding the obligation to obtain approval for the use of reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics. Therefore, we recommend that you informally notify the competent supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option to either (1) re-cultivate the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-cultivate the strains yourself but want to repurchase them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™ .
Application videos on how to handle reference organisms and how to set up the cryobank can be found in our section "Self-study" at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on the topic of "Reference strains for internal quality control" for you in our Info-Memo .
