Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the manufacturer's recommended strains and quality controls. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your competent supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I need to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) culturing the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and re-growth of the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-culture the strains yourself but prefer to repurchase them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
