Designed for the safe storage of biological material and human or animal cells at ultra-low temperatures, Alpha offers three ranges of CE marked cryogenic storage vials.

All products in this range are certified RNase, DNase, pyrogen and DNA free. Alpha Laboratories cryo vials are available in either a self-standing or a round bottom format. All types have an internal rounded base for ease of sample removal.

Robust vial and closure - a special grade of polypropylene is used to manufacture all our vials, chosen for its consistent strength. This enables both vial and cap to withstand the harsh temperature of liquid nitrogen vapour phase of -196 °C and the thick wall makes the vial virtually unbreakable.
Please note they are not suitable for use in the liquid phase.


Secure seal - cap and tube are made from the same material so they will shrink and expand at the same rate during temperature changes, ensuring an equally secure seal at both room temperature and at low cryogenic temperatures.
Quick opening/closing - 1 ¼ turns are sufficient to securely close the cap. This is important when using large quantities of vials as it saves time and reduces the risk of the cap not being securely closed.

Easy one-handed operation - all self-standing vials, when used with a workstation (LW3400B or LW3400R) enable the vials to be unscrewed with one hand. Vertical ribs facilitate removal of the cap
Clear graduations - at 100l intervals, to make reading your sample volume easier.

Large white marking area - for sample labelling and identification.
Tubes can be colour coded with a cap insert (LW3339 range) and are compatible with most storage systems. Cap inserts are available in 11 different colours. Cap inserts are not compatible with LW3439.
Round bottom vials only can be centrifuged at up to 17,000g.
Sterile - all vials are gamma irradiated to ensure absolute sterility.

The Classic Range
- designed for fundamental security
The internal threaded with silicone washer between cap and vial creates a leak-proof seal at all temperatures. Designed to improve security over standard screw cap microcentrifuge tubes.
'The Classic' uses a square cross section washer that is tightly compressed between the cap and the top of the tube wall, ensuring a secure leak proof seal at all temperatures.
