The esaote MyLab X1 Go belongs to the class of so-called POCUS devices (Point of Care Ultrasound System), which is suitable not only for mobile use in practices (home visits etc.) and clinics (outpatient departments) but also for use in mobile emergency and military medicine.
In a practice setting, POCUS devices are usually used as secondary ultrasound devices. Unlike some wireless or wired handhelds, the X1 is accepted by health insurance companies for billing according to EBM.
Typical areas of application for POCUS devices include, for example, the clarification of abdominal pain, status assessment in trauma patients and those with suspected shock or hypotensive conditions of unclear genesis (RUSH including FAST, eFAST protocols), clarification of urinary retention, lung ultrasound (CHEST, pleural sliding, pleural effusions), accompanying ultrasound for the placement of central access and for punctures; the detection of venous thrombosis, etc.
