Strep. mutans ATCC 25175 KWIK STIK (2)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a general rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. Should you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in a medical laboratory, limited to the purpose of quality management for your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend that you informally notify your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the regional government.
Do I have to reorder the strains regularly?
You have the option to either (1) propagate the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® system).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to propagate the strains yourself but prefer to reorder them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™ .
Application videos on handling the reference strains and setting up the cryobank can be found in our section "Self-Study" at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on the topic of "Reference strains for internal quality control" in our Info Memo .
