Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls. If you have any questions or need help, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Do you need approval to use reference strains?
There is no clear regulation regarding the obligation for approval when using reference strains in medical laboratories, restricted to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option to either (1) re-culture the strains yourself using a cryo-procedure (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g. Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-culture the strains yourself but want to repurchase them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
