The RapID Spot-Indole Reagent is part of the RapID ss/u System, which provides a fast and reliable biochemical test panel for the identification of common urinary bacteria.

Unlike other biochemical test panels, incubation only takes 2 hours.
Test principle:
Intracellular enzymes, collectively known as "tryptophanase", control the breakdown of tryptophan to produce indole and other metabolic end products. Indole can be detected by adding dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde, which binds to indole, producing a clearly recognizable blue-green color.
