The RapID Spot Indole Reagent is part of the RapID ss/u System, which is a rapid and reliable miniaturized biochemical test for the identification of common urinary bacteria.
Evaluation is done via an online portal.
Unlike other miniaturized biochemical tests, incubation only takes 2 hours.
Test principle:
Intracellular enzymes, collectively known as "tryptophanase", control the breakdown of tryptophan to produce indole and other metabolic end products. Indole can be detected by adding dimethylaminocinnamaldehyde, which combines with indole to produce a clearly recognizable blue-green coloration.
