The "No-Scalpel Vasectomy" (NSV) is a technique that originated in China and arrived in Europe via the USA.
In a No-Scalpel Vasectomy, as with conventional procedures for safe sterilization, both vas deferens are completely severed. However, this is a minimally invasive procedure for use in a urological practice.
Three special instruments are required for performing an NSV:
1x ring clamp
1x pointed clamp
1x mini hook.
For a minimally invasive vasectomy, scissors, a suture (e.g., Vicryl 3-0), and the possibility of diathermy hemostasis are also required. The mini hook is pointed (sharp) (size 1) and is also part of the NSV set.
This medical device has been awarded the green AUROSAN seal because it is reusable, thus avoiding the use of disposable items and the generation of large amounts of waste.
