Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?

As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please contact us via the Instructions for Use . We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.

Is handling reference strains subject to approval?

There are no clear regulations regarding the need for approval when using reference strains in a medical laboratory, limited to the purpose of quality management for your in-vitro diagnostics. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.

Do I need to repurchase the strains regularly?

You have the option of either (1) subculturing the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., the Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not wish to subculture the strains yourself but prefer to repurchase them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
