Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?

As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please consult the instructions for use. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.

Is handling reference strains subject to approval?

There is no clear regulation regarding the obligation to obtain approval for the use of reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics. Therefore, we recommend that you submit an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.

Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?

You have the option to either (1) re-culture the strains yourself using a cryo-procedure (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g. Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-culture the strains yourself but want to repurchase them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
