Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?

Generally, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us. Instructions for use We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.

Is handling reference strains subject to approval?

The requirement for approval when using reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management for your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government (Regierungspräsidium).

Do I have to re-purchase the strains regularly?

You have the option to either (1) self-propagate the strains using a cryo-procedure (freezing and re-growing the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., the Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to propagate the strains yourself, but want to re-purchase them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
