Microtrol™ Neisseria gonorrhoeae NCTC8375 (25 Bl.)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
Generally, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the manufacturer's recommended strains and quality controls. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us for the Instructions for use. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in a medical laboratory, limited to the purpose of quality management for your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I have to reorder the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) subculturing the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and re-growth of the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to subculture the strains yourself but wish to reorder them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
Application videos on handling the reference germs and setting up the cryobank can be found in our section "Self-Study" at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on "Reference strains for internal quality control" for you in our Info-Memo.
