Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need help with this, please contact us. We will be happy to help you and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is the handling of reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend that you informally notify the responsible supervisory authority, e.g. the regional government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) propagating the strains yourself using a cryo procedure (freezing and re-growing the pure cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g. Cryobank® system).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to propagate the strains yourself but want to repurchase them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
