Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?

As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need assistance, please do not hesitate to  contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.

Is the handling of reference strains subject to approval?

There is no clear regulation regarding the need for approval when using reference strains in a medical laboratory, limited to the purpose of quality management for your in-vitro diagnostics. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the regional government.

Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?

You have the option of either (1) propagating the strains yourself using a cryo-procedure (freezing and re-growing the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to propagate the strains yourself but prefer to repurchase them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™ .
