Micrococcus yunnanensis ATCC 7468 KWIK STIK (6)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a general rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. Should you have any questions or require assistance, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
There is no clear regulation regarding mandatory approval for the use of reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g. the district government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) subculturing the strains yourself using a cryo-procedure (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to subculture the strains yourself but wish to repurchase them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
Application videos on handling reference strains and setting up the cryobank can be found in our "Self-Study" section at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on "Reference Strains for Internal Quality Control" in our Info-Memo.
