McFarland is the unit of turbidity of solutions with bacteria.

McFarland Standards are used as reference samples of comparable turbidity and are recommended in many protocols/methods, especially in microdilution procedures. This allows for inoculation with comparable amounts of bacteria and thus the standardization, particularly of resistance determination.

We recommend use in combination with a densitometer, e.g., DEN-1 biosan.
