Lubri-Sil™ I.C. Siliconeurinary catheters with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® Precious Metal Coating available again! 

The Bactiguard® coated transurethral catheters, which lead to a clinically comprehensively proven reduction in catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTI, CAUTI), have now been switched from MDD to MDR approval and are available again.

There are now two variants: 

Bardex™ I.C.: Latex core, coated with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard®

and 

Lubri-Sil™ I.C.: Silicone core coated with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® precious metal alloy

The I.C. stands for "Infection Control", i.e., the clinically proven reduction of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTI, CAUTI) mentioned above.

The catheters are coated both inside and out with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® .

The Bactiguard® technology is based on a wafer-thin layer of a precious metal alloy (gold, silver, and platinum components) that is firmly bonded to the catheter surface. Upon contact with fluid (urine), the precious metals generate a galvanic effect that reduces microbial adhesion. The reduced adhesion of bacteria to the catheter surface reduces biofilm formation and thus the risk of bacterial urinary tract infections.

The Bactiguard® coating is firmly bonded to the catheter core, so no toxic or pharmacologically active substances are released in relevant quantities.

The catheters are supplied in packs of 12 and can also be prescribed as practice supplies in some KVs.
They can be obtained either directly from AUROSAN, or from pharmaceutical wholesalers, pharmacies, and medical supply stores.
