Lubri-Sil™ I.C. Siliconeurinary catheters with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard®-noble metal coating available again!

The Bactiguard® coated transurethral catheters, which lead to a clinically proven reduction of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTI, CAUTI) are now approved under MDR instead of MDD and are available again.

There are now two variants:

Bardex™ I.C.: Latex core, coated with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard®

and

Lubri-Sil™ I.C.: Silicone core coated with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® Noble Metal Alloy

Here, the I.C. stands for "Infection Control", i.e., the above-mentioned clinically proven reduction of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTI, CAUTI).

The catheters are coated both internally and externally with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® .

Bactiguard® technology is based on a razor-thin layer of a noble metal alloy (gold, silver, and platinum components) firmly bonded to the catheter surface. Upon contact with liquid (urine), the noble metals create a galvanic effect that reduces microbial adhesion. The reduced adhesion of bacteria to the catheter surface reduces biofilm formation and thus the risk of bacterial urinary tract infections.

The Bactiguard® coating is firmly bonded to the catheter core, so no relevant amounts of toxic or pharmacologically active substances are released.

The catheters are supplied in packaging units of 12 and can also be prescribed as practice supplies in some health insurance regions (KVen).
They can be obtained either directly from AUROSAN, or through pharmaceutical wholesalers, pharmacies, and medical supply stores.
