Lubri-Sil™ I.C. siliconeurinary catheters with Bard® hydrogel and Bactiguard® precious metal coating are available again! 

The Bactiguard® coated transurethral catheters, which have been clinically proven to significantly reduce catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTI, CAUTI), have now been re-certified from MDD to MDR and are available again.

There are now two versions: 

Bardex™ I.C.: Latex core, coated with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard®

and 

Lubri-Sil™ I.C.: Silicone core coated with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® precious metal alloy

The I.C. stands for "Infection Control", i.e. the aforementioned clinically proven reduction of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (UTI, CAUTI).

The catheters are coated both inside and outside with Bard® Hydrogel and Bactiguard® precious metal alloy.

Bactiguard® technology is based on a wafer-thin layer of a precious metal alloy (gold, silver and platinum components), which is firmly bonded to the catheter surface. On contact with liquid (urine), the precious metals generate a galvanic effect that reduces microbial adhesion. The reduced adhesion of bacteria to the catheter surface reduces biofilm formation and thus the risk of bacterial urinary tract infections.

The Bactiguard® coating is firmly bonded to the catheter core, so no toxic or pharmacologically active substances are released in relevant quantities.

The catheters are supplied in packs of 12 and can also be prescribed as practice supplies in some health insurance regions.
They can be obtained directly from AUROSAN, or through pharmaceutical wholesalers, pharmacies or medical supply stores.
