The CultiControl reference strains from the ATCC(R) collection are freeze-dried and are available as a product with 5 pellets, suitable for either 5 monthly cultures according to EUCAST or for multiple strain bank installations.
The Quanti-CultiControl reference strains correspond to the CultiControl products with the same ATCC® numbers, but are available with only one pellet and one vial of rehydration solution.
The Microtrol™ reference strains correspond to the CultiControl products with the same ATCC® numbers and are available as a product with different quantities of pellets.
Which reference strains do you need?
Generally, the instructions for use (IFU) for the products / devices / methods you want to check provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls for internal quality control. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in a registered medical laboratory, limited to the purpose of quality management for your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I need to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option to (1) maintain your own cryobank (freezing and re-growth of stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend Multi-CultiControl (1 pellet + 1 rehydrating fluid vial) combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® System).
