H. influenzae NCTC 8468 LYFO DISK (6)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us. We will be happy to help you and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
There is no clear regulation regarding the obligation to obtain approval for the use of reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management for your in-vitro diagnostics. Therefore, we recommend that you inform your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the regional government.
Do I have to reorder the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) propagating the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and regrowing the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® system).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to propagate the strains yourself but want to reorder them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™ .
Application videos on handling the reference germs and setting up the cryobank can be found in our " Self-study " section at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on the topic of "Reference strains for internal quality control" in our Info Memo .
