Gonorrhea is a disease caused by the very common bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae and is curable with targeted antibiotic therapy. Approximately 650,000 people are diagnosed with uncomplicated gonorrhea each year (WebMD, 1999).
Gonorrhea is the leading cause of urethritis in men and cervicitis in women.
Antigen detection allows for economical use of resources for further diagnostics.
The product contains 10 test kits. No additional components other than a stopwatch are required for testing.
Validated against Neisseria culture; very good sensitivity and specificity:
- for cervical swab samples (fem.): 90.9 / 96.4%
- for urethral swab samples (mal.): 90.0 / 96.8%
