The Fuchs-Rosenthal chamber, bright-line version, is most frequently used for cell counting in cerebrospinal fluid.
The entire area, which has 4 x 4 large squares, is counted. This counting chamber differs from the usual blood cell counting chambers not only in its larger surface area (16 mm²) but also in its greater chamber depth (0.2 mm) and thus in its larger volume (3.2 µl).
