Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 KWIK STIK (2)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need help, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is a permit required for handling reference strains?
A permit requirement for using reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g. the district government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option to either (1) re-culture the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and re-growing the stock cultures) and store them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g. Cryobank® System).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-culture the strains yourself but want to repurchase them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
For target results for resistance testing, please refer to the current EUCAST QC Table.
Application videos on handling reference strains and setting up the cryobank can be found in our "Self-study" section under Self-study" at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on the topic of "Reference strains for internal quality control" for you in our Info Memo.
