Enterococcus faecium, derivative from ATCC 6057 KWIK STIK (2)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need help, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Is handling reference strains subject to approval?
The requirement for approval when using reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. We therefore recommend that you make an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g. the regional council.
Do I have to reorder the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) reproducing the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g. Cryobank® system).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to reproduce the strains yourself but want to reorder them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
Application videos on handling the reference germs and setting up the cryobank can be found in our section "Self-Study" at www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on the topic of "Reference strains for internal quality control" for you in our Info-Memo.
