Columbia Agar with 5% Sheep Blood (Columbia Blood Agar) is a nutrient-rich, general-purpose medium that enables the isolation and cultivation of non-fastidious and fastidious microorganisms from a variety of clinical and non-clinical samples.
The sheep blood allows for the detection of hemolytic reactions, which are particularly important for the presumptive diagnosis of streptococci.
