Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need help, please contact us. We will be happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Do you need approval to handle reference strains?
There is no clear regulation regarding the obligation to obtain approval for the use of reference strains in medical laboratories, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics. We therefore recommend that you make an informal report to your competent supervisory authority, e.g., the regional council.
Do I have to reorder the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) re-cultivating the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and re-growth of the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g., Cryobank® system).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to re-cultivate the strains yourself but want to reorder them after use, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™.
