These multi-functional SampleTite specimen containers are made from non-cytotoxic, durable polypropylene with a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) lid. They bear the CE mark in accordance with European Directive 98/79/EC. For in-vitro use only. They feature an easy-grip ring around the base of the container and the lid to ensure that opening and closing the container is easy, even with gloves. The semi-transparent sidewalls with graduations on 3 sides ensure that the contents and their volume are clearly visible. These robust containers are ideal for collecting, transporting, and storing liquid or solid samples under harsh conditions. They are certified leak-proof up to 95 kPa, preventing formalin leakage and evaporation.
These disposable plastic specimen containers have undergone process validation to ensure they are leak-tight at a pressure differential of at least 95 kPa (0.95 bar, 14 psi). The specimen containers were tested according to the following procedure as per the US Department of Transportation Code Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 49, Parts 100-185 (October 2011 edition): The primary receptacle or secondary packaging used for infectious substances must be capable of withstanding, without leakage, an internal pressure that produces a pressure differential of not less than 95 kPa (0.95 bar, 14 psi).


The detailed procedure is as follows:
1. Mark all samples with numbers ready for testing.
2. Fill all containers to at least 98% with coloured carbonated liquid.
3. Place the containers into the vacuum chamber/vessel and set the vacuum to 95 kPa (0.95 bar, 14 psi) for 10 minutes. During the process, a visual inspection will be performed for individual or streaming bubbles, and the finding will be recorded.
4. After 10 minutes, remove all samples, place them upside down on a surface covered with white table protection, and inspect for leakage of coloured carbonated liquid. Any leakage is considered a failure and will be rejected.


Passing this test means these universal containers are suitable for sample transport according to UN3373 packing instruction when combined with suitable secondary and tertiary packaging, e.g., Specisafe or rigid flexible packaging systems such as RF95-330G
