Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6051 KWIK STIK (2)
Which reference strains do you need for internal quality control?
As a rule, the instructions for use (IFU) provide information on the recommended strains and quality controls from the manufacturers. If you have any questions or need help, please contact us. We are happy to help and provide you with a non-binding offer.
Do reference strains require approval for handling?
A requirement for approval when using reference strains in a medical laboratory, limited to the purpose of quality management of your in-vitro diagnostics, is not clearly regulated. Therefore, we recommend an informal notification to your responsible supervisory authority, e.g., the district government.
Do I have to repurchase the strains regularly?
You have the option of either (1) recultivating the strains yourself using a cryopreservation method (freezing and regrowth of the stock cultures) and storing them long-term. For this, we recommend KWIK-STIK™ combined with a storage system (e.g. Cryobank® system).
Alternatively (2), if you do not want to recultivate the strains yourself but want to repurchase them after consumption, you can choose between LYFO DISK™ and Microtrol™ .
Application videos on how to handle reference strains and set up the cryobank can be found in our section "Self-study" under www.aurosan.de
We have also compiled a further overview on "Reference strains for internal quality control" for you in our Info Memo .
