These multi-purpose SampleTite specimen containers are made from non-cytotoxic, durable polypropylene with a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) cap. They bear the CE mark according to European Directive 98/79/EC. For in-vitro use only. They feature an easy-grip ring around the base of the container and the cap to ensure easy opening and closing even with gloves. The semi-transparent sidewalls with graduations on 3 sides ensure that the contents and their volume are clearly visible. These robust containers are ideal for the collection, transport, and storage of liquid or solid samples in harsh conditions. They are certified as leak-proof up to 95 kPa, preventing formalin leakage and evaporation.
These disposable plastic specimen containers have undergone process validation to ensure they are leak-tight at a differential pressure of at least 95 kPa (0.95 bar, 14 psi). The specimen containers were tested according to the following procedure in compliance with the US Standard Department of Transportation Code Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 49, Parts 100–185 (October 2011 edition): The primary receptacle or secondary packaging used for infectious substances must be capable of withstanding an internal pressure without leakage that produces a differential of at least 95 kPa (0.95 bar, 14 psi).
The detailed procedure is as follows:
1. Mark all samples with numbers ready for testing.
2. Fill all containers to at least 98% with colored carbonated liquid.
3. Place the containers in the vacuum chamber/vessel and set the vacuum to 95 kPa (0.95 bar, 14 psi) for 10 minutes. During the process, a visual inspection for individual or streaming bubbles is performed, and the findings are recorded.
4. After 10 minutes, remove all samples, place them upside down on a surface covered with a white table protector, and check for leakage of colored carbonated liquid. Any leakage is considered a failure and rejected.
Passing this test means these universal containers are suitable for sample transport according to UN3373 packaging instruction when combined with appropriate secondary and tertiary packaging, such as Specisafe or rigid flexible packaging systems like RF95-330G.
